Summit View Home-Based Program (SVHP) Families!
Important: In SVHP, the parent is considered the teacher and is responsible for all teaching, planning, and monitoring of the student's work. Per Education Code, students are not permitted to remain in SVHP if they are not making progress.
Master Learning Agreement (MLA): A written master learning agreement must be signed by the parent/guardian and student before a student begins the independent study/home-based program. Electronic signatures are permitted. Please see the attached MLA for your child. Please complete Section I and both the parent/guardian and your student will sign Section III. The document can then be scanned and emailed or dropped off at the school office at 6401 Lincoln Ave.
Attendance: In SVHP, attendance is generated by the amount of work (hours) completed within one attendance month. The teachers determine the amount of time awarded to work that is turned in. For example, the teacher determines that a social studies assignment (reading and answering questions) should take 1 hour to complete. If the work that is turned in is significantly more than what was expected, the teacher may award more time to the assignment; however, if the work that is turned in is less quality than what is expected, the student will earn less time than originally projected. If work is not submitted, the assignment is marked as 0 hours.
Transfer to Summit View Home-Based Program: All students require a district-approved transfer to Summit View Home-Based Program. Transfers can be obtained through the Pupil Services Department at the Centralized Registration Center at 5700 Arlington Ave. See links below for more information.

Principal's Message
Welcome to a new and exciting school year at EOC. As the Director of Alternative Education, I strive to make sure every student is provided with a safe learning environment where students are supported by a dedicated staff that focuses on ensuring academic success. We strive to create a culture of success where students gain a sense of pride and belonging as they prepare for their future.
With the partnership of our parents and the community, our focus is to support students in overcoming the unique challenges they have faced and move them toward graduation, and develop the skills they will use to be successful in their plans after high school. We are committed to developing relationships that are based on trust and respect so that students feel valued as we support them in reaching their potential. We aim to develop students to become lifelong learners who are critical thinkers prepared for college and careers.
I look forward to a successful year for all students.
Hector Valdez, Director of Alternative Education
